Kokopo’s lucky seven: Blue Marlin bonanza at GFA titles

After a challenging day at the 48th National Fishing Titles in Kokopo, one angler is celebrating seven tagged blue marlins on Sunday, April 13, 2025. The catches, ranging between an estimated 40 and 65 kilos, were made using 15 and 24 kilo lines. With an additional 4 hook-ups lost and 3 vessels still fighting.

It has been a more East New Britain sort of day in the national fishing titles. The competition saw a fleet of 22 boats enter the action between 5:30 and 8:30 am. Weatherwise, it was another sensational morning that saw the fleet of boats grow to 22.
