Teenager Charlie Knight has been celebrating his latest victory which saw him become a national champion. The PEJ ABC Margate boxer, who has trained with the club for more than six years, was crowned a National Junior ABA champion with a unanimous points decision victory against highly-rated Accrington Lions opponent Taio Holden last month in the under-44kg category final. A day earlier in Wigan, the 15-year-old had come through his semi-final by a unanimous points decision.

He produced dominant displays in rounds one and two as he forced standing counts. Knight picked up the Kent and Southern Counties title and a good win over the London champion in the quarter-final along the way. He also won the Kent and Southern Counties schoolboy titles and has been Bristol Box Cup champion and Manchester Box Cup champion twice.

Coach Mario Michael said: “We’re extremely happy and proud of Charlie, who is a very, very talented boxer with real potential to go a long way in the sport. “Alongside that, he’s a lovely, polite, respectful young man, who's an absolute pleasure to train.” Knight becomes PEJ ABC Margate’s fifth national champion since the club joined the governing body England Boxing in 2018.

Michael also thanked PEJ Court Properties and Malwai Nijar for their continued support with the running of the club, based on Hatfield Road..
