Radhikka Madan talked about the time when her father was shocked as she received a Rs 1 lakh paycheck for her first TV show. Radhikka Madan, who rose to fame with the portrayal of Taarika ‘Taaru’ Bansal in Irrfan Khan starrer Angrezi Medium, began her career as a dancer in Delhi. The actress, being skilled in hip-hop, jazz and ballet, used to train many students before stepping into her acting career.
Later, she made her acting debut with the TV series Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi in 2014 and even won multiple debut awards. Now, in a recent conversation, the actress opened up about her initial days in the career and also her parents’ reactions. In a candid chat on Curly Tales’ YouTube channel, Radhikka Madan opened about her initial days in the world of glam and glitz.
Reflecting on the days when she was a skilled trainer, the actress stated, “I was a dance instructor, and I received Rs 800 per month." However, when she refused to accept her fees, her parents were completely astonished. Talking about the same, she shared, “I used to not take the money because I felt the dance was giving me so much.
Why would I take something from dance? My parents’ reaction was, ‘She is mad’ What will she earn? Whatever she is getting, she’s not receiving that too.’ Next, I used to tell them, I will show you." In the same conversation, the Angrezi Medium actress shared how she got her first role in a TV show – Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi.
“I got selected and the auditions were happening in Delhi. I was called by the show’s team overnight, that I have to reach Mumbai for a look test for my TV show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. I got selected.
I was 17 years old and they gave 1 lakh a month. I gave the reaction – what," she elaborated. Like many supportive parents, the diva’s father accompanied her to Mumbai for a look test.
“We came to Mumbai, went to the office and gave the look test. I got selected and I had my return tickets booked. I saw Mumbai, I wanted to see the sea, so I watched it," she stated.
However, Madan also recalled that her first paycheck from her TV show was about Rs. 1 lakh, and how her parents were in disbelief at the amount. Talking about the same, she explained, “Papa said ‘Isko kisi ne scam kar diya hai (Someone has scammed her)’.
" Coming to her work front, the actress made her Bollywood debut with the movie Pataakha in 2018. She was last seen in Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra, and has a film titled Subedaar in her pipeline, which is now being filmed..
