ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit doesn't sound off on college football programs in scathing rants very often, so when he does, it speaks volumes. Saturday night, Tennessee took on Oklahoma in an early-season SEC contest. In the first quarter, the Vols had a first and goal following a 38-yard pass from quarterback Nico Iamaleava to Bru McCoy.

But before the Vols could run another play, an "injured" Oklahoma football player needed help getting off the field. Sooners defensive tackle Da’Jon Terry went down with an apparent injury and needed help getting off the field. But was he really injured or was he just trying to slow down Tennessee's up-tempo offense? Herbstreit believed it was the latter.

Cooper Neill/Getty Images Herbstreit was furious. “This is college football. It drives me crazy,” Herbstreit said.

“They look over after a big play and all of a sudden, he looks over and he just goes down. It’s not necessarily against the rules but it’s unethical as hell, when you see this all over against these tempo offenses, guys just go down with the quote-unquote injury.” Kirk Herbstreit had some tough words for players faking injuries after it looked like Oklahoma did that against Tennessee.
