The Kings County Library Department has announced the one-day closure to facilitate essential organizational and professional development activities for all library staff. This dedicated day will provide an opportunity for staff to engage in important conversations and participate in teambuilding exercises. A key component of the Staff Development Day will be "Active Shooter Training," conducted by the Hanford Police Department and the Kings County Sheriff’s Office.
This training will equip library staff with critical safety procedures and preparedness measures. In addition, staff will use the day to review the upcoming Summer Reading Program Guidelines and prepare for the successful transition to temporary library locations due to the planned remodel of the Hanford and Lemoore branch libraries. "We recognize the importance of investing in our staff's professional growth and ensuring their safety and preparedness," said Board of Supervisor Chair Doug Verboon.
“This Staff Development Day will allow us to address critical training needs and prepare for upcoming library initiatives, ultimately enhancing the services we provide to the King County community." All Kings County Library branches, including Corcoran, Hanford, and Lemoore, will reopen to the public on Saturday, May 31, at 9 a.m.
The Library Department apologizes for any inconvenience this one-day closure may cause and appreciates the public's understanding as they invest in staff development..
