In the joint investigation with The Sunday Times titled The King, The Prince & Their Secret Millions, it is claimed that the private estates of King Charles and Prince William rake in millions from contracts with public bodies and charities. After watching the film, aired earlier this month, Jean questioned: "How is the whole nation not outraged by this?" and claimed the royals were "lucky" that the US election had overshadowed the investigation.

"I guess the inequality in our society is so baked in that for some, they will simply accept it," she wrote in her column with The Sunday Mail. Jean went on to claim that the King and Prince were "milking" the money and accused William in particular of hypocrisy, following his recent documentary about combating homelessness. "I find Prince William tasking himself with 'solving homelessness' while siphoney money off from these services is very poor taste," she continued.

"What's worse is the investigation found some Duchy of Cornwall tenants to be living in homes with mould and failing to meet minimum energy efficiency standards. "All this as The Duke of Cambridge has just been in South Africa presenting his Earth shot prize, which 'supports eco-friendly projects'." Jean Johansson has accused Prince William of being 'a hypocrite' The Channel 4 star went on say she believed William "had a chance to create something new" and form a more modern monarchy, but claimed changes to must be made to do so.

Such changes, she suggests, could start with selling off some of his family land to build homes instead of making a "PR film". Reach PLC has contacted representatives for King Charles, Prince William, The Duchy of Cornwall and The Duchy of Lancaster for comment. A Duchy of Cornwall spokesperson previously told GB News about the investigation: "The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate with a commercial imperative which we achieve alongside our commitment to restoring the natural environment and generating positive social impact for our communities.

"Prince William became Duke of Cornwall in September 2022 and since then has committed to an expansive transformation of the Duchy. "This includes a significant investment to make the estate net zero by the end of 2032, as well as establishing targeted mental health support for our tenants and working with local partners to help tackle homelessness in Cornwall." A spokesperson for the Duchy of Lancaster, the private estate of King Charles, has also since said it "complies with all relevant UK legislation and regulatory standards applicable to its range of business activities".
