Situated in Ahmednagar, the facility features a cutting-edge manufacturing unit with an impressive production capacity of 60,000 high-performance battery packs annually. Kinetic Group, one of India’s top automotive components companies, has announced the opening of its state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar. With an investment of Rs.

50 crore, the facility marks the group’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) battery market, where it will produce the Range-X brand of batteries for two- and three-wheeled electric vehicles. The high-tech manufacturing unit in Ahmednagar is capable of producing 60,000 advanced battery packs annually. It will offer both LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery types.

These batteries will be tailored for two- and three-wheeler EVs, and the company plans to supply them to various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), beyond just Kinetic Group. As the EV market in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of 28.52 percent, reaching US$18.

319 billion by 2029, the new facility is set to benefit from this rise, especially in the two-wheeler sector. Additionally, the facility is working on the development of prismatic cells for three-wheelers. Kinetic Group’s Range-X batteries use the latest LFP technology, which provides a stable chemical composition that significantly reduces the risk of thermal runaway.

This ensures peak performance in extreme temperatures and includes smart Battery Management System (BMS) integration for enhanced efficiency and overall battery health. The batteries are designed with an eco-friendly approach, utilising non-toxic, recyclable, and ethically sourced materials, making them a responsible choice for the environment. Additionally, the Group will produce NMC batteries, renowned for their exceptional energy density, delivering longer-lasting power for various applications.

These batteries offer superior performance with a high charge-discharge rate, ensuring reliability even in challenging conditions. Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kinetic Group, stated, “The Ahmednagar facility represents our dedication to self-reliance, safety and sustainability in battery technology." The facility features an automated production line equipped with IoT-enabled POKE-YOKE systems and stage-wise inspections, ensuring precision, quality, and safety at every manufacturing stage, in line with industry standards such as AIS 156 and AIS 004.

Furthermore, Kinetic Group is advancing technology and localising the BMS under the PLI Schemes initiated by the Prime Minister’s Make in India initiative..
