THE female division at Bomana prison in Port Moresby was pleasantly surprised by a visit from Kina Bank’s Finance team on Thursday, November 7, 2024. The team brought along a variety of gifts, including clothes, toiletries, feminine products, water bottles, cartons of biscuits, cartons of juice and toys for toddlers living with their mothers in the facility. The Finance team had raised funds through raffle draws, BBQ and contributed from their own pockets towards this cause.
Sioni Moses, the Senior Manager for Finance, said that: “As the festive season approaches, our thoughts are with the women in the correctional service facilities at Bomana, some of whom are there with their young children and rarely receive visitors. “Christmas is a time of joy, peace, love, and hope, and what better way to start the festive season than by visiting to show love and compassion. “We are grateful to the female division management team for allowing this visit.
“It is a true pleasure to meet these women, hear their stories, offer encouragement, and share some laughter.” The female division consists of 52 women, convict and remandees. Agnes Kunjil, the officer in charge of the female wing, expressed gratitude to Kina Bank, saying: “We rarely get visitors, and when we do, it brings us immense joy.
“Some women here have no family in the city and receive no visitors at all. “Your visit makes you family to us. “Thank you so much Kina Bank for taking time off your busy schedule to visit us with basic necessities for the women.
” The visit and donation by the Finance team is another staff led initiative reflecting Kina Bank’s social responsibility and community spirit.
