Kina Bank, who are not new to the corporate challenge, showed their experience in the single lap race. Marsh were unlucky in the race after their outrigger flipped, leaving them out of medal contention. Kina Bank team representative Eddie Sukanaivalu, said they took part last year in the race.
“This year is just a continuation of our support for the sport of va’a. He further stated that outrigger canoeing is a minority sport and it’s all about participating and encouraging others to join in as well. “We are all part of the ocean and paddling is part of our culture of what we do and part of who we are,” he added.
Sukanaivalu said taking part in the Corporate Va’a Challenge is a great representation of balancing work and a social life. “Because at Kina we look at what you do at the office versus what you do outside and so by getting our team to participate is just a way of saying let’s get together after work. “As the team composes of different staff members from different part of the business, the opportunity presents itself to share a common interest outside the work environment.
