We’re getting our first look at Kim Young Kwang ’s special appearance in SBS’s upcoming drama “ The Haunted Palace ”! “The Haunted Palace” is a fantasy historical rom-com that delves into the tale of the Eight Feet Tall spirit that bears a grudge against the king, a female shaman who opposes it, and an Imugi (imaginary creature that is able to transform into a dragon upon acquiring a magical jewel). Kim Young Kwang makes a special appearance as the original form of the serpent Gang Cheol, before the spirit possesses the body of Yoon Gap ( BTOB ’s Yook Sungjae ). Gang Cheol is a vengeful creature that failed to become a dragon and now harbors a deep hatred toward humans.
Hoping to ascend to heaven, he follows the shaman Yeo Ri ( WJSN ’s Kim Ji Yeon ), seeking to harness her spiritual powers. However, an unexpected twist leaves him trapped in the body of Yeo Ri’s first love, royal archivist Yoon Gap. To build excitement, the production team released stills of Kim Young Kwang as Gang Cheol, immediately drawing viewers’ attention.
In the image, Kim Young Kwang exudes the presence and charisma of a divine being. Draped in a flowing black robe patterned with serpent scales, he strides forward with a commanding aura, fully channeling the dark spirit of the vengeful creature. His piercing gaze and intense presence capture attention at a glance.
Anticipation continues to grow for Kim Young Kwang’s bold and dynamic portrayal of the character. Another striking still shows Kim Ji Yeon and Kim Young Kwang locked in an intense stare. As an evil spirit invisible to ordinary humans, Gang Cheol forms a twisted and complex bond with Yeo Ri before taking over the body of Yoon Gap.
As the original form of Gang Cheol and the catalyst for the story’s events, Kim Young Kwang’s role sparks excitement for what promises to be a powerful and memorable performance. “The Haunted Palace” premieres on April 18 at 9:50 p.m.
