Images: Instagram/@prada, GoldMedalist Kim Soo-hyun ’s agency GoldMedalist denied that he dated the late actress Kim Sae-ron with plans to take the “strongest possible legal action,” following allegations of them being in a six-year relationship before the latter’s death. Sae-ron died at the age of 24 on February 16 which was ruled as suicide by Korean authorities a day later.
Weeks later, a woman who claimed to be her aunt alleged that the former child actress was in a relationship with Soo-hyun for six years. In an interview with HoverLab Inc. on Monday, March 10, the woman claimed that Soo-hyun and Sae-ron started dating when the latter was 15 years old, while the actor was 27.
She also called out Sae-ron’s former agency GoldMedalist for allegedly mishandling her DUI case in 2022, among other claims. Soo-hyun’s agency slammed the claims in a statement on Tuesday, March 11, saying the allegations surrounding the former child actress and the “Queen of Tears” star were “baseless.” “The claims made by HoverLab Inc.
in their YouTube broadcast about Kim Soo Hyun are clearly false and baseless,” GoldMedalist said, per a Soompi translation. “In their broadcast, HoverLab Inc. claimed that Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron were in a romantic relationship starting when she was 15 years old, that our company acted improperly in handling the aftermath of Kim Sae Ron’s DUI incident,” it continued.
The agency added that the “strongest possible legal actions” are eyed against the YouTube channel, reiterating the claims were a form of “falsehood.” “Our company is deeply saddened by the passing of the late Kim Sae-ron, who was once part of our agency, and we mourn her loss. However, the dissemination of such false information by HoverLab Inc.
mirrors the very behavior of so-called ‘cyber wreckers’ that caused the late actress so much pain during her lifetime,” it said. In its statement, GoldMedalist also stressed that the allegations were driven by “self-interest” and were intended to “tarnish the honor of the deceased,” apparently referring to Sae-ron. “Their actions, driven solely by self-interest, not only damage our company but also tarnish the honor of the deceased, and thus we will respond to this matter with the utmost seriousness.
We earnestly request that these baseless falsehoods not be further spread, amplified, or reproduced in any way,” it said. Sae-ron, who was laid in her final resting place on February 19, with her family and closest friends in attendance. Reports by Korean media outlets noted that the actress took her life on Soo-hyun’s birthday.
Prior to her death, Sae-ron established herself as an award-winning child actress before transitioning to teen roles. She is best known for appearing in films and dramas such as “A Brand New Life,” “The Man from Nowhere,” “Secret Healer,” and “The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim,” to name a few.
