Kim Soo Hyun's agency, GOLDMEDALIST, is accused of stock manipulation with Siwon School. The Financial Intelligence Unit is investigating. Amid the controversy surrounding South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun , it has now been reported that his agency, GOLDMEDALIST, has been accused of stock manipulation.
Reportedly, the allegations were raised by the Garosero Research Institute and involve Siwon School, an online education platform which is listed on KOSDAQ (Korean Securities Dealers Automated Quotation). If a report by Top Star News is to be believed, more than half of Siwon School’s shares are controlled by a private investment firm. This firm is funded by two separate organizations.
Interestingly, one of these is said to be GOLDMEDALIST. However, when GOLDMEDALIST was approached for a comment regarding the allegation, it said, “We are not involved in any of the trading activities related to this stock." It was the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Financial Services Commission that first started to probe an alleged stock manipulation.
The agency initiated its investigation after it noticed that stock price of Siwon School increased sevenfold in just nine months. The FIU submitted a report to the police officials and suspected a deliberate market manipulation. Following this, the Korea Exchange (KRX) also raised red flags after identifying unusual trading activity.
This comes at a time when Kim Soo Hyun has also been accused of dating the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was just a minor. So far, the latter’s family has made several allegations against Soo Hyun. However, Kim Soo Hyun recently held a press conference and addressed allegations.
He said, “I’ll address the biggest concern—I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. We dated five years ago for about a year, long before Queen of Tears aired." The actor also explained why he denied dating Sae Ron earlier, saying, “As the lead actor of Queen of Tears, I couldn’t confirm the relationship publicly because of its potential impact on the cast and crew.
" Kim also denied accusations that his agency pressured Sae Ron over her debts, saying, “Aside from the fact that we were both actors, we were simply an ordinary couple who broke up over time.".
