Nearly a month after South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron ’s untimely demise, her aunt came forward and made some shocking revelations about her past. In an explosive video posted by the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute on March 10, the late actress’ aunt alleged that actor Kim Soo Hyun was in a relationship with Sae Ron for six years before calling it quits in 2021.
They started dating when the actress was just a minor while he was already 27. The revelation sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Amid all this, screenshots containing a statement written by Sae Ron following the controversy which erupted last year have surfaced on social media.
The pictures, which were shared by the actress’ aunt on the YouTube channel, contain a conversation between Sae Ron and her cousin. In the conversation, the latter shared that journalists bombarded her with non-stop calls seeking comments about the Bloodhounds actress’ relationship with Kim Soo Hyun. Last year in March, Sae Ron dropped an intimate close-up picture with the Queen Of Tears actor on her Instagram stories.
Although she quickly deleted the snap, speculations about their relationship started spreading like wildfire across social media platforms. After the incident, Sae Ron did not immediately share a statement, even though she had said that she would. In the recent screenshots that surfaced, which date back to March 25, 2024, the actress advised her cousin to ignore the reporters.
She even shared an unpublished statement that she had written herself following the controversy. The statement contains details of her alleged relationship with Soo Hyun. Sae Ron’s statement, as quoted by Koreaboo, read: “I wish to apologise to those everyone and the industry staff who were affected and confused by my careless actions.
Although the media is reporting the rumours which have been spreading in the media as falsehoods, I wish to clearly state that that is untrue. The photo uploaded on my Instagram Stories was taken in 2016, and we were dating from November 19, 2015, to July 7, 2021." In the statement, the Snowy Road actress also mentioned that the claims and actions of her former agency, Gold Medalist, do not match up.
She added, “Gold Medalist is currently claiming that ‘they don’t know my intentions behind uploading it,’ and this completely does not match up with what they have been doing." Towards the end of the statement, Sae Ron hoped that the agency would “come to recognise and apologise their misdoings", which caused her harm while she was still associated with them. She ended it by saying, “As an actress whose image is consumed by viewers, I am leaving this post in the belief that people need to be told the truth.
