The Queen of Tears star Kim Soo Hyun dating scandal won't die anytime soon. The actor has now taken legal action against the allegation over his alleged past romantic relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron. Kim Soo Hyun has hired a team of forensic experts with the purpose to examine the authenticity of the leaked dating messages with Kim Sae Ron.

The KakaoTalk chats reveal some sensual talks between the two actors of the time when both were dating. The KakaoTalk messages were first made public by a controversial Youtube channel Garo Sero Institute. The channel claimed the messages to be dated back to 2016, the time when Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron were dating, suggesting the late actress to be minor in that period.

Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team hired the Truebaum Institute to conduct a thorough linguistic analysis of the texts after online speculation and conflicting timelines raised concerns. The actor's move followed new evidence released by Kim Sae Ron's family that allegedly supported claims of underage dating. As per Kbizoom, the hired Truebaum Institute published its reports on April 9, 2025.

According to the team, specialists specialised in author identification techniques organized a detailed forensic examination of the KakaoTalk messages of Kim Soo Hyun from three different years-2017, 2018 and 2025. According to the released report, the 2025 messages are verified as authentic through real conversation logs which served as the reference point of comparison whereas the reports suggest that 2016 messages are fabricated. As per the reports, there is a 95% probability that 2016 text messages which are at the center of the current dating scandal are falsified.

The estimation shows that the chances of both 2016 and 2025 text messages being done by the same person is only 8%. The team's report also suggests that the comparison between 2016 and 2018 text messages shows a mismatch of 92%, suggesting different writers. The analysis evaluated tone, syntax, word choice, and sentence structure to identify linguistic patterns distinctive to individual writing styles, concluding that the messages might not be authentic to Kim Soo Hyun.
