Estrada’s casting as the iconic titular character was announced during a recent story conference at the TV5 Media Center. As Totoy Bato, Estrada will go head-to-head with powerful families using only his “kamao” (fist) as he becomes the savior of Pook Paraiso. Joining Estrada in the ensemble are Bea Binene, Cindy Miranda, Diego Loyzaga, Nonie Buencamino, Mon Confiado, Art Acuña, Mark Anthony Fernandez and Eula Valdez.
Estrada at the story conference of “Totoy Bato.” The series will also include the special participation of Joko Diaz, Katya Santos, Kean Cipriano, Jackie Lou Blanco, Andrew Muhlach, Bily Villeta, Ivan Padilla, Lester Llansang, Benz Sangalang, Gold Aceron and CJ Caparas, who is the son of the original creator of “Totoy Bato.” The adaptation is also set to introduce young stars Lawrence Dela Cruz, Benedict Lao, Natania Guerrero, Jeremiah Cruz, Dwayne Bialoglovski and Stanley Abuloc in their first roles.
Estrada is fresh from his portrayal as Norman Dela Cruz in the action series “Lumuhod Ka sa Lupa,” adapted from Rudy Fernandez’s 1986 film of the same name. In a press conference last February, Estrada shared that he looked up to FPJ and had always wanted to do a remake of his iconic films. “Something like Totoy Bato at Panday, mga kuwentong may puso at tunay na lalim bilang action-drama,” he said at the time.
