Chiefs have brought in Bradley Cross, Inacio Miguel, Gaston Sirino, Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari, while Njabulo Blom has returned on loan from MLS club St. Louis City. Cross, Miguel, Sirino, Dortley and Ntwari all started in the opening day win over Marumo Gallants on Saturday, while Blom and Sam were not in the squad.

The five that started are expected to continue as regulars, while Blom will also find his way into the team once he is ready. However, this website has gathered that there are question marks on Sam. The 27-year-old was signed on a three-year deal with an option of another year following the non-renewal of S'fiso Hlanti’s contract.

In signing him, Chiefs were planning that he would cover the gap left by Hlanti, but based on information reaching , it appears he hasn’t won over Nasreddine Nabi. Sam’s deal was completed before Nabi arrived and after travelling to Turkey for pre-season, he was then injured, forcing him to return early. Throughout the weeks that have since passed, Amakhosi have added Cross.

It has since been gathered that Nabi has reservations about the value that Sam will bring to the club. The Tunisian-Belgian coach will have Cross as first choice with Dortley and Happy Mashiane as the other options that can be used besides Sam. Sam was never able to establish himself as a regular at Orlando Pirates, forcing him to go on loans to Maritzburg United and Moroka Swallows.
