Earlier this week, the South African businessman currently at CAF's helm announced that the 2024 edition of the African Nations Championship will take place in east Africa between 1 and 28 February 2025. The governing body for football on the continent also confirmed that it would communicate which stadiums and other venues will be used for the competition in due course, with Motsepe having recently paid a visit to some stadia in Kenya that are being prepared for CHAN, and also expressed the need for all stakeholders to work together to ensure that all venues and facilities are ready for the competition. Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi earlier this week, the football administrator stated that football cannot be built in a country if its own national team has to travel outside of it to play official matches due to bans or a failure to satisfy CAF or FIFA requirements.

"...

I'm very clear that we've made good success in reducing the number of countries that play outside their nation. "In every country, the emphasis is: 'Let's work together to make sure that we've got at least one stadium that meets FIFA and CAF standards.".
