Kia's Tata Punch Rivaling SUV Will Be Called Syros

The Syros will be based on the Kia 2.0 design language and sit below the Sonet. In the micro-SUV segment, it will compete against the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.

Kia has revealed the name of its upcoming micro-SUV. It will be called the Syros and sit below the Sonet in the brand's lineup. It will be Kia's derivative of the Hyundai Exter.

Kia says that the Syros will use its new Kia 2.0 design language. The brand has released teaser images of the Syros earlier, showcasing its side profile.



Test mules of this upcoming Kia SUV have been spotted testing on Indian roads a handful of times. The spy shots and the teaser imager reveal a boxy shape for the Syros, with a thick B-Pillar. However, we expect the new SUV to arrive in India early next year. Since the Syros is based on the Exter, the two will likely share engines. The Exter has a 1.

2-litre petrol engine that produces 81 hp and 113.8 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options on the Exter include a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT.

Kia could also throw the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol from its part bin in the Syros. The engine produces 118 hp and 172 Nm of peak torque.
