New Delhi: Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah lost his cool and tried to attack some fans on Saturday after his side lost the third and final ODI against New Zealand at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. Although it is not clear what prompted Shah to aggressively attack few supporters but it is believed that the fans continuously taunted Shah over Pakistan’s performance on their tour to New Zealand.

The tour turned out to be disastrous for the Men in Green as they went dow1-4 in the five-match T20I series and then suffered a 0-3 whitewash on the ODI series. Meanwhile, after Shah lost his cool and attacked the fans in the crowd, members of the support staff and security intervened and dragged away Shah from the spot. PCB issues statement The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also issued an official statement later, saying that some foreign spectators used abusive language towards the players which prompted Shah to go and confront them.

As to the statement, Khushdil took matters into his own hands once he heard anti-Pakistan slogans. ‘The Pakistan cricket team management has strongly condemned the abusive language directed at national players by foreign spectators. During the match today, foreign spectators hurled inappropriate remarks at cricketers present on the field,’ the PCB said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan lost the rain-curtailed third ODI match by 43 runs, losing the series as well. In the final match of the series, Mohammad Rizwan and team failed to chase down a score of 265 as their batters failed to make an impact. Apart from Babar Azam’s half-century, none of Pakistan batter was successful in staying long at the crease and chase the target.

Michael Bracewell was named the Player of the Match while Ben Sears was named the Player of the Series. Click for more latest Cricket news . Also get top headlines and latest news from India and around the world at News9.
