Khloe Kardashian is reflecting on Amari Thompson 's strength amid his heath battle . The Kardashians star, who shares kids True , 6, and Tatum , 2, with ex Tristan Thompson , detailed their bond while celebrating the NBA star's younger brother on his 18th birthday. (Amari's celebratory milestone comes amid him living with a severe form of epilepsy.
) "Amari turning 18 is a huge milestone for him," Khloe, who helped organize the party, shared during the show's April 3 episode. "It's a huge accomplishment, and every day we have with him is a blessing." The event held last summer—of which also included mom Kris Jenner , sister Kim Kardashian and their kids—took a slight turn when Amari suffers a brief seizure, which causes Kris to breaks down into tears.
"When you meet someone that's so wonderful and then something so terrible happens to them," Khloe explained, "you do want to help. You do want to fix it and be there as much as you can. I think my mom feels the exact same way.
She has such a connection to Amari, and so to not be able to do much, it is really hard." However, Khloe steps in to comfort her mom and explain that the occurrence does happen frequently, assuring her that he'll be okay. "When Amari's having a seizure, I know how to stay calm," she shared in a confessional.
"I'm around Amari a lot. I've seen a lot of seizures, he has multiple seizures a day. I know what to do in these situations, but someone who hasn't been exposed to that and hasn't seen that, it can be very scary, and it's a very helpless feeling.
" Khloe also attributes Kris' reaction to her empathy for Amari, whose mom Andrea Thompson , passed away in 2023 after suffering a heart attack when he was just 17. (Tristan subsequently became his legal guardian.) "My mom is someone that always wants to help somebody else," Khloe said, "and she normally can fix problems.
So in this situation, I think she feels so terrible because it's something she has no control over whatsoever, and she doesn't know what to do, and she feels really helpless." And for Kris, the emotional experience is one that left an impression. "It just makes me so sad," she told Khloe through tears.
"Ever since I've met him, I think about him all the time, and I pray for him, and I just had never seen that happen." But Kris shared she was grateful to have been present for both Khloe and Amari, noting that her daughter is "truly is such a big part" of his life. "I think it's so incredibly impressive how she takes care of him," Kris shared in a confessional.
