In a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on April 7, Bacon reflected on their unusual first encounter.Their official meeting took place on the set of the 1988 film Lemon Sky. However, Sedgwick said they had met much earlier.
At the time, Bacon was 19 and performing in Off-Broadway productions. Meanwhile, Sedgwick was 12 years old and had dreams of becoming an actress. Her mother, familiar with Bacon’s theater work, took her to see one of his plays.
After the show, Sedgwick spotted him at a deli and complimented his performance. Bacon shared, “This 12-year-old girl came up and said, ‘Hi, I liked you in the play.’ And, according to her, I said, ‘Thanks, sweetie.
’ You know, kind of misogynistic.”Years later, Sedgwick reminded him of that encounter while filming Lemon Sky and asked if he remembered meeting her years earlier. The actor said, “And I went, ‘Yeah I do remember that.
’ And she went, ‘Really?’ And I went, ‘No.’” Bacon then added, “So she did not like me. It was not love at first sight.
” Despite the awkward start, the two developed a connection during filming. By the end of 1988, they were married. They also have two children together: Travis and Sosie.
