Dharma Productions’ Kesari franchise is expanding with Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday’s upcoming courtroom drama. Titled Kesari Chapter 2, the film is C Sankaran Nair’s biopic. All eyes are on the Karan Singh Tyagi directorial, which will release on April 18.

The film also stars Parineeti Chopra. It was directed by Anurag Singh. At the box office, Kesari grossed over Rs 200 crore worldwide.

Kesari told the story of 21 Sikh soldiers who fought the last-standing battle with the British Indian Army on September 12, 1897. Led by Havildar Ishar Singh, they defended Saragarhi post against an estimated 10,000 Afridi and Orakzai tribesmen. The soldiers refused to surrender and fought till the last breath.
