A viral video of a private marketing firm in Kerala making its underperforming employee crawl on his knees has sparked concerns about workplace abuse, mental struggles caused by it and dignity. The firm faces allegations of mistreating its employees, with reports of humiliating practices. The Kerala Labour Ministry has ordered a probe into alleged inhuman treatment after a viral video purportedly showing an employee of the firm forced to crawl on all fours with a leash tied to them.

Labour Minister V Sivankutty ordered an investigation after widespread outrage over the inhuman treatment in the video appeared on social media and news channels. V Sivankutty termed the video as ‘shocking and disturbing’ and said it cannot be accepted in a state like Kerala. “I have ordered a probe into the incident and instructed the district Labour officer to submit a report in connection with the incident after carrying out a probe," he told the media.

According to the police, the incident occurred at Keltra, a marketing firm at Perumbavoor, Ernakulam district. The firm’s owner was previously arrested in a sexual assault case. They also informed that they haven’t received any complaints on the matter, and the owner had denied the allegations.

“No case has been registered so far, and an investigation is underway," News18 quoted an officer as saying. According to a report, quoting Station House Officer Rajesh M K, by the Indian Express, the video was recorded around six months ago by a former employee. The Kerala State Youth Commission has taken suo motu action in the case and has sought a report from the District Police Chief. Commission Chairman M Shajar said, “As a civilised society, we should collectively respond against such anti-social trends." Some employees of the firm later revealed to a TV channel that management would often subject them to humiliating punishments for failing to complete targets.
