Hammersmith and Fulham, and Westminster councils will not be making any changes to their recycling and rubbish collection schedules

Residents in a West London borough are being warned not to be caught out by changes to bin collection over the Easter holidays. Kensington and Chelsea Council said there will be no rubbish collection on Good Friday (April 18). Instead, if your waste is usually collected on a Friday, it will be collected on Tuesday, April 22.

Garden and food waste will not be affected. Collections will continue as normal for the rest of the Easter period. Residents are being urged to leave their rubbish and recycling out before 7am on collections day, and not the night before.

If your rubbish has not been collected by 3pm, let the council know and they will pick it up within 24 hours. There are no changes to bin collections in Hammersmith and Fulham or in Westminster City . Residents in Westminster City are being urged to present their waste for collection no earlier than 30 minutes before the scheduled collection in certain areas.

This is because streets in the centre of the borough are narrow or have lots of pedestrians. These streets are known as 'bags off streets' areas or BOS. A map by the council shows many of these streets lay in the West End and between Hyde Park and Regent's Park.

In Hammersmith and Fulham, bin collection days do not change on or after a bank holiday weekend. Collection days only change at Christmas and New Year. The council said residents should present their rubbish before 6am on collection day or after 9pm on the evening before.

Putting bins out on the wrong day, or in the wrong way, would result in action being taken against you for dumping rubbish, the council's website says. This year, the Easter holidays run from Friday, April 18, to Monday, April 21. Want more from MyLondon? Sign up to our daily newsletters for all the latest and greatest from across London here .
