Kendrick Lamar fans say one of his lesser-known releases hides one of his very best songs, with the unexpected choice seemingly a favourite with listeners years later

Fans of the rap sensation Kendrick Lamar believe they have found his "best" song - and it's on an unexpected album. Plenty of praise has been heaped on the artist in recent months, especially after his Super Bowl LIX performance. His feud with Drake through 2024 appears to have reached its end after the Super Bowl LIX performance, and fans are now turning their attention to earlier releases from Kendrick .

Fans of the artist behind albums like 'GZA', and 'To Pimp a Butterfly' believe his "best" song is on neither album, and can actually be found on his fourth studio album, 'Damn', which released on this day (April 14) in 2017. The choice from fans can be found on an r/hiphopheads subreddit discussion, where listeners decided on what the best of Kendrick's songs was. One fan wrote: "Fear is the best track on the album.

" Another agreed, and suggested any song from the album could be a pick for the best-ever in Kendrick's discography. One user wrote: "Crazy thing about this album is you can pick almost any song and I'd be like 'good point you could make a case for that song'." Others have since suggested that the song is in their personal top five, as many say they can see why fans are calling it Kendrick's best.

One wrote: "I think the album suffers from a lack of cohesion. I don't think it lives up to the 'put this in reverse!' hype beyond the first track being his death and the last being his birth. "The concept, even if well executed, would still be way less interesting and ambitious than Good Kid, m.

A.A.d City, and To Pimp A Butterfly (and arguably section.

80). "But man would I be lying if I told you DNA and FEAR aren't in my top 5 songs, and loyalty is definitely his best pop song, with love not too far behind. The whole is just less than the sum of its parts.

" Another added: "I had this album on repeat but as time went on its kinda hard to go back to tbh. The writing is good but certain songs just don't stick anymore personally. I can't listen to Humble anymore shit just sounds annoying.

"Element feels mad corny for some reason and DNA feels like I'm just waiting for the beat change. I still love songs like FEEL, FEAR, DUCK WORTH, and a bunch of others are still amazing but I lost that want to even listen to the album unlike To Pimp A Butterfly." Fans were in agreement on the quality of Fear trumping that of the Damn album.

One user explained: "To me the album was the most inconsistent from K-dot but I still like it. Fear is a top 10 Kendrick song in my book easily the strongest song on this album for me." Another simply put: "FEAR is still the best song off the album.

".
