BUFFALO, N.Y. — Kelsea Ballerini met a beloved Buffalo athlete before her KeyBank Center concert on Friday night.

The Buffalo Sabres posted photos on social media of Ballerini with Jessica Pegula, a Buffalo native who just last weekend won the Charleston Open on the Women's Tennis Association circuit. Pegula beat Sofia Kenin 6-3, 7-5 last weekend to secure her first tournament win this year. She's the No.

3-ranked women's player in the world at the moment. "All the Buffalove with @KelseaBallerini and @JPegula!" the Sabres posted, with Ballerini holding up a Bills jersey and Pegula a Sabres jersey. 6 concert. Ballerini took to Instagram the day of that show, talking about how rest and some medicine helped her "raspy voice" and that she would be good to go that night. "Buffalo, I am so so sorry that I could not finish the show tonight," she said on social media .

"I am sicker than I am trying to be, and I did not want to let anyone down tonight. I just got through the first few songs, and I just couldn't do it. I'm so sorry.

" Ballerini had no health issues for her return trip, playing before fans who were eager to see her perform — again. "I'm going to go rest now — and get better — so I can really show up for the rest of this tour, and I hope you understand," she said back in February. "Thank you for the grace to be human, and I love you.
