Kaveri Kapur says while she has watched Masoom more than once, it's not her most favourite film directed by dad Shekhar Kapur. Last year, Shekhar Kapur announced a sequel to his critically acclaimed film, Masoom. The announcement came more than 40 years after the first film starring Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi released.

The second part will have a fresh storyline while keeping the core essence of the 1983 film intact. Along with Naseeruddin and Shabana, it will star Manoj Bajpayee and Shekhar’s daughter Kaveri. Masoom 2 will mark Kaveri’s second acting outing after her debut film, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story.

Now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Kaveri talks about working on the film and her experience of collaborating with her father on a film for the first time. “It’s [prep] going really good. It has been fun to have that back and forth with my dad and have him take my input on the script.

It has been a really fun process," she tells us. While Kaveri labels him as a ‘tough’ filmmaker, she’s quick to add that it’s his kindness and compassion that is making her experience of working on Masoom 2 truly special. So, how is the Mr India and Bandit Queen director on set? “On set, he’s tough but in a very empathetic way.

He has high standards and emotional intelligence too. He knows how to bring a certain performance out of an actor depending on their personality. Will he make me work really hard? Yes.

Will he yell at me? No. Because he knows that it’s not going to work on me as different actors need different approaches. So, overall, it has been really fun," says Kaveri.

What she’s also kicked about is the opportunity to share screen space with thespians like Naseeruddin, Shabana and Manoj. Though daunted, Kaveri’s choosing to look at the silver lining. “I’m very, very excited to learn from his whole experience and even the senior actors that I’m going to be working with.

It’s a little intimidating but I’m sure that I’ll be able to absorb a lot," she states. But a big revelation comes our way when Kaveri reveals that Masoom isn’t her most favourite film helmed by her dad. “I’ve watched Masoom twice.

But my favourite film that dad has directed is Elizabeth [starring Cate Blanchett]," she shares. A while back, Shekhar spilled the beans on Masoom 2, which marks his return to Hindi films after more than three decades. “I was traveling from Dubai to Delhi, and I realised I had left the Masoom 2 script on the plane seat.

But I got it back and a flight attendant wrote me a note saying that Masoom was a very good film, and this one will be just as good. So, see, it came back even after being left behind, there must be something to it. It’s destiny.

.. At that time [1983], I was very new to the industry, a complete naive, and I really want to know how did I do it," he told ANI.
