Singer Katy Perry was one of several celebrities to show her support for Kamala Harris hours before Election Day. The singer, who faced a “disaster” when it came to her recent comeback album, 143 , which featured singles like Women’s World and Lifetimes, is one of the many celebrities endorsing the Vice President . Perry took to the stage to perform several of her hits, including Part of Me and even a Whitney Houston cover.

"Four years ago, I became a mother. She is the reason why I'm voting for Kamala Harris," she added.

However, fans had some negative opinions about her performance. One X user wrote: "Katy Perry attempting to cover Whitney Houston is going to cost Kamala the election." Another added: "No Katy Perry no please help yourself.

You're singing a WHITNEY HOUSTON song!!! THIS IS A NASTY MESS." A third said: "katy perry sounds a mess" as a fourth commented: "literally the only misstep the harris campaign had in 100 days was getting katy perry to perform because this is dreadful." A fifth added: "@katyperry sounds terrible T this in PA.

...

what happened to her voice?" as a sixth said: "Katy perry couldn't find the note OMFG at least she looked good." Perry, one of the biggest pop acts, isn’t the only one who showed up as Harris rallied in Pennsylvania, a state that could quite possibly decide the entire election. It’s unclear how much the star power will help needle the election in Harris’ favor, as the race is expected to come down to seven swing states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, North Carolina, Arizona and Georgia. She currently leads by a slight margin in Michigan and Wisconsin, according to FiveThirtyEight, while Trump has taken a narrow lead in Nevada, North Carolina, Arizona and Georgia. Barring the two flipping states they aren’t expected to, they stand at Harris having 226 of 270 electoral votes, while Trump has 219.

If she wins Michigan and Wisconsin, Harris only needs Pennsylvania to win, as that would put her at the needed 270. Trump, meanwhile, also needs Pennsylvania to cross the threshold, as winning the expected red states and the swing states he is projected ahead in only puts him at 268..
