at least, that's what sources say. After officially exiting American Idol in February 2024, Perry has no plans to return to the long-running talent show, according to sources close to the singer. The decision comes as she reclaims her pop career with a new album and prepares for a history-making mission with Blue Origin .

It's connected me with the heart of America," Perry told Jimmy Kimmel Live during her farewell announcement. "But I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.

" Perry’s new album 143 dropped earlier this year, and she’ll hit the road for her Lifetimes World Tour starting April 23 in Mexico City. The 84-date tour is her first since 2017’s Witness and is set to wrap up on December 7 in Abu Dhabi. The pop star’s departure from American Idol followed seven seasons as a judge.

Country music star Carrie Underwood has since taken her place, but Perry reportedly hasn’t been keeping tabs. "Katy doesn't even watch the show, so she hasn't seen Carrie," a source told The U.S.

In a photo shared on Instagram, Perry struck a pose in a custom-fitted flight suit embroidered with her name.
