Say Nothing , the Disney+ series about the Troubles, is up for 10 Iftas next week and may sweep up in the TV drama category. So it’s obviously been well received by the Irish film community who make up the voting body. But the series is problematic on a number of levels.
It is basically a romp through the Troubles from the point of view of the Continuity IRA. It stitches up Gerry Adams and the peace process and makes complex heroes out of IRA members Brendan Hughes and Dolours Price, both of whom considered the Good Friday Agreement a sell-out..
