KATSINA : Some of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts in Katsina state have pledged to join Force with the newly formed coalition of opposition political parties to send the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) out of office in 2027. Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, a chieftain of the PDP led other party stalwarts in the state revealed their plans to join the coalition of the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, at a stakeholders meeting held in Katsina on Tuesday.

Inuwa, a former Atiku campaign coordinator in the state, while interacting with the stakeholders, stressed that, already discussions have reached advanced stage to form a coalition to wrestle power from the APC at state and national levels. Even though, Inuwa did not affirmed their intention to join the 2023 PDP presidential candidate’s coalition, sources milling within the party hierarchy revealed that arrangements had been concluded to join Atiku in his new camp. The source revealed that, they have already started discussions with members of the New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP, People’s Redemption Party PRP, including some prominent APC members to form a coalition for the 2027 election.



“For your information, some of the APC members presently supporting this move are holding key positions in the APC government both at state and federal government levels.” Similarly, the source added that members of the opposition movement, comprising prominent politicians from the state and outside the state, would soon reach a consensus on a political party to belong ahead of the 2027 polls. Former National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, former Senator representing Daura Zone, Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita and Ahmed Musa Yar’adua, the 2023 deputy governorship candidate were among chieftains of the party that attended the meeting.
