In his latest column, former Olympian and heavyweight contender Frazer Clarke slams the decision to have Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano, the richest fight in women’s boxing, serving on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul in Dallas on Friday. The boxing world will probably stop for Mike Tyson and Jake Paul on Friday. It’s a fight I don’t agree with and to make matters worse, it’s the headline show ahead of Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano – an undisputed super-lightweight title battle which means so much to the sport.
Their first fight in New York in May 2022 was historic – the first time two women have ever headlined at the famed Madison Square Garden. It delivered in every aspect. It was an incredible night, an incredible fight and a hugely important moment for women’s boxing.
The situation is a shambles All I can say is – it is a shame this fight is on the undercard. It is more than a shame, it is a shambles. I hope Katie and Amanda are filling up the bank proper well and good by doing this and I would like to think that is the case.
But it shows we are in a scary place for the sport. These are two exceptional fighters who fought out the best fight in the history of women’s boxing just two years ago. I would be paying to go along and watch that fight if I was over there, it is that good.
But Serrano vs Taylor being on the undercard of this freakshow is embarrassing. It deserves its own stage like it had in New York in 2022. But the purses are probably huge here.
I understand it. I can never begrudge anyone making their bank in this brutal sport, especially in the women’s ranks when these super fights can be so career-defining and so often have all the titles on the line. They have had amazing careers.
Taylor and Serrano the best of their generation Katie Taylor is as good as anyone who has fought in her generation, male or female. Serrano is even better for me, she’s one of my favourite fighters to watch. Her style, the way she carries herself, her amazing Puerto Rican backing, it is all part of a brilliant package.
I’m a huge fan of these two. I’d even be tempted to tune in to watch those two then turn it off before the main event. I would stay up late to watch Taylor and Serrano, no matter where it is taking place.

Taylor’s last two fights with Chantelle Cameron have also been excellent and added more to her legacy. I watched Serrano recently against Stevie Morgan and she was at the top of her game.
Taylor vs Serrano fight prediction I do think they will bring the very best out of each other again. But I’m going to go Katie Taylor to get the win. This could be her last one and she will turn up in great shape as always.
She has always delivered. Katie keeps going. The Serrano rematch is probably the only fight left out there for her; a huge fight and the biggest that can be made for both women.
