Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway revealed the immense challenge she faced while secretly participating in ITV's The Masked Singer. Kate revealed all after being unmasked as Spag Bol on Sunday's episode (January 5), explaining to viewers how her stint on the show was kept hidden from her family. "Very exciting/traumatising for the family! I got my kids to watch.
They were very confused about it saying, 'Why are you forcing us to watch in real time? '" she revealed. Kate also disclosed that even she was unaware of the timing of the reveal, leading to her pressuring her children to watch the show live, reports the Mirror . She said: "But, I didn't know it wasn't going to be revealed on Saturday, that's how much in the dark you are.
I forced them to watch in real time, and then they were like, 'Ok, so we're watching tomorrow then, are we, Mum?' You have to cover all your skin and hair and they put a black visor on you, black jogging bottoms, boots and a T-Shirt that says 'do not talk to me'. You're not allowed to speak at all!" Co-host Susanna Reid pointed out that Kate's distinctive voice would give her away the moment she spoke - something that Kate agreed.
She continued: "None of the staff and crew can speak to you, so I had to be silent which was a huge struggle to be honest. So when I began to sing I was just relieved to be able to make a noise." Even though the presenter struggled to keep her secret hidden for long, she expressed nothing but admiration for The Masked Singer and relished her participation in the series.
As part of her stint on the programme, audiences watched Kate perform Geri Halliwell's 'Look at Me' while donning her Spag Bol attire. Series detectives Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, and Mo Gilligan failed to make the correct guess, and guest Vicky McClure was no more successful in identifying who was under the costume. The show's host, Joel Dommett, unveiled the Good Morning Britain celebrity, leaving the panel utterly astonished.
Reflecting on her experience, Kate said: "I can't sing and I kept telling them (the production team) that and they said it doesn't matter. Just to have an incredible chance to come out dressed as spaghetti and waddle around trying to sing. It's been so much fun and everybody's been great.
" However, Kate wasn't the sole star revelation on the show; ITV spectators also saw Bake Off judge Dame Prue Leith uncovered as Pegasus. The Bake Off legend said: "I have say this is the most amazing experience. I've never sung a note.
I'm tone deaf. I have been having lessons and I've got slowly able to at least make a noise." We are now bringing you the latest updates on WhatsApp first.
