Mumbai: A 28-year-old security guard from Thane was detained by Mumbai Police on Wednesday for allegedly making a threat call to the police control room, claiming to be the brother of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the 26/11 terror attack convict, as per PTI. After noting that he was mentally unstable, police let him go with a legal warning. Police officials said the man, identified as Piyush Shukla, was under the influence of alcohol when he made the call.

Although the threat was found to be baseless, it triggered an immediate police response. Drunk and Upset, He Made the CallAccording to an officer, the control room received the call around 1 am on Tuesday from a mobile number traced to Mulund. “Kasab ka bhai bol raha hoon,” the caller said before abusing the police and threatening to blow up the police headquarters, then hanging up, as per PTI.

Police quickly launched an investigation and registered an FIR at Mulund police station. Further inquiries revealed that Shukla, who works as a security guard in Thane, had taken a train to Mulund and was intoxicated. The Railway Protection Police removed him from the platform, which reportedly left him agitated.

“Upset, he called up the police control room to complain, but got into an argument and issued the threat,” an officer explained. Issued Notice, Then Let GoAfter tracing and detaining Shukla, the police determined that he was mentally disturbed and did not pose a real threat. He was issued a legal notice and allowed to leave.

However, authorities have warned against misusing emergency helplines and making hoax threats, which can result in serious consequences. Get Latest News Live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from Mumbai and around the world..
