Karnataka's Udupi gears up for Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations on November 1

Preparations are underway for Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in Udupi, featuring a flag hoisting by District Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, a parade, cultural performances, and felicitation of notable contributors to society. The event emphasizes cleanliness, public participation, and Karnataka’s history, heritage, and traditions.

UDUPI : As part of the Karnataka Sambhrama 50 celebrations, the Kannada Rajyotsava should be organised with grandeur and meaning, said Deputy Commissioner Vidyakumari K during a preparatory meeting held at Rajathadri on Thursday. The 69th Kannada Rajyotsava will be celebrated on 1st November at the Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarkad, Udupi. The event will commence at 9am with the District Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar hoisting the flag and delivering a message.

The programme will include a parade by the police, excise department, forest department, home guard, NSS, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Sevadal, and students from various schools. Following the parade, there will be group cultural performances by school students. Individuals who made significant contributions to society will be felicitated during the event.



The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need to print and distribute invitation cards in accordance with protocol, inviting elected representatives, distinguished guests, freedom fighters, and achievers from various fields, including national and international athletes. She urged govt officials, employees, organisations, and institutions to ensure their participation, while also calling for a large turnout from the public. The celebrations will start at 8 AM with a special puja to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari at the Board High School, followed by a procession carrying the portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari to the Ajjarkad Stadium.

This procession will include various cultural troupes to raise awareness about Karnataka's history, heritage, culture, and traditions. Tableaux representing various govt schemes will also be part of the procession. The DC directed that cleanliness at the event venue should be given priority, with provisions made for clean drinking water for the students and public attending the event.

As per the state govt's directives for Karnataka Sambhrama 50, a replica of the Halmidi inscription, prepared by the Karnataka Shilpakala Academy , will be installed at Bhujanga Park in Ajjarkad on Kannada Rajyotsava Day.
