Thanks to the intervention of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, tribals of Kerehaadi in Heggadadevanakote taluk of Mysuru district get assurance of access to power and water supply to their hamlet after generations of waiting. Tribals of Kerehaadi have settled inside Nagarahole Tiger Reserve and tribals have power or water supply connectivity owing to conservation laws coming in the way. After taking note of the ordeal faced by tribal for generations without power and water supply, Chief Minister discussed with officials on the ways to ensure power and water supply to these hamlets and intervening Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy assured the Chief Minister to clear hurdles in the way and initiate measures to supply power and water supply to Kerehaadi and eight other tribal hamlets in a month.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Kerehaadi and gave patient hearing to the problems faced by tribals. During his visit to the house of Ganesh and Ramesh, Chief Minister was told that tribals have no access to power nor water supply. In response to the problems, the Chief Minister stated no conservation laws restricted officials from supplying power and water to tribal hamlets.
Siddaramaiah assured the tribals to convene a meeting of the State Wildlife Board headed by him at the earliest to chalk out a solution to allow construction of houses by tribals inside forest areas. Earlier, Venkatesh, Narasimha and Bhagya brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that forest officials have barred them from using tractors to till their agricultural lands. The tribal leaders demanded the Chief Minister to constitute a Corporation for Tribals and made it clear to him that tribals are not nomads and have settled inside forest areas for generations, Reacting to the demand, the Chief Minister assured to look into their demand for formation of Tribal Corporation.
