White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday shut down a Fox Business Network reporter who asked if President Joe Biden apologized to President-elect Donald Trump for labelling him a “threat” to democracy. Fox Business Network ’s Edward Lawrence questioned Jean-Pierre about Biden’s meeting with Trump and — without mentioning that Trump has used a similar “threat” line of attack on Biden — asked about the president using the label for his GOP rival, who attempted a coup before the end of his first term. “The president is going to always feel obligated to be honest with the American people.

What he says still stands,” said Jean-Pierre of Biden. She added that it’s not just the president who has warned of Trump’s second term, it’s his former staffers , as well. “You’ve heard that from the former chief of staff John Kelly and others ,” she said.

“You’ve heard it directly from the president — president-elect, the former president about ‘enemy of the people.’ Very, very clear — very clear.” Jean-Pierre went on to emphasize the importance of listening to “the will of the American people” and recognizing that there was an election.

“And that’s what this president is doing: leading by example and putting — putting that aside and putting the American people first,” she said. Don't let this be the end of the free press. The free press is under attack — and America's future hangs in the balance.

I don’t — we should not just put this at the president. His own people said this. So, I want to be really, really clear about that and not forget the facts.

There are facts here that we should certainly also lift up as you’re asking me these questions.” KJP responds to a question about if Biden apologized to Trump during their meeting today for calling him a threat to democracy: "What he says still stands. And it's not just him.

You heard this from former [Trump] staffers." pic.twitter.
