Filmmaker and actress Kangana Ranaut made her foray into politics in June 2024. She is currently serving as an MP, Lok Sabha, from Mandi. Having attended a political event recently in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, she expressed her disbelief and shock while recalling getting an exorbitant electricity bill of Rs 1 lakh for her Manali house.
She added that she doesn’t even reside there, wondering how the amount can be that high. The Tanu Weds Manu actress also criticised the Himachal Pradesh government for sending her the expensive bill. There is a wave of PM Modi in the entire country and saffron but it is painful to watch Himachal Pradesh's condition.

In the video, quoted by Hindustan Times, she is heard saying, “Iss mahine mere Manali ka ghar ka Ra 1 lakh bijli ka bill aaya, jaha main rehti bhi nahi hoon.
Itni durdasha ki hui hai. Hum padhte hai aur sharmindagi hoti hai ke yeh kya ho raha hai.” Addressing the crowd, she said that they have one chance, one opportunity as the rest tirelessly work on the ground.
