Chennai: Madras high court on Thursday reserved its order on a batch of PILs seeking a CBI probe into the Kallakurichi hooch deaths . The first bench of Acting Chief Justice D. Krishnakumar and Justice P.

B. Balaji reserved the order after concluding the final hearing in the PILs. When the plea came up for hearing, the court wondered why the suspension of the district superintendent of police was revoked.

To this, Advocate-General P S Raman informed the court that the SP's suspension was revoked since he was not directly connected to the incident. Moreover, he has been posted only in an insensitive post, he said. He added that the suspension of the prohibition DSP and eight other officers continues, and departmental action is being initiated against them.

The AG further requested the court to permit the CB-CID to file the final report in the case and take a decision on transferring the probe if the court is not satisfied with the report..
