KALĀ 2025, opening on 10 February, celebrates South Asian modern and contemporary art through a distinct residency project in partnership with the University of Visual and Performing Arts Colombo, marking its 75th anniversary. KALĀ COMMUNE, a four-week immersive residency, brings together artists from Sri Lanka and across South Asia for artistic development and cultural exchange. Curated by Assistant Curator Mandira Ranathunga with Programming Advisor GoodLifeX, the residency culminates in a public showcase at the JDA Perera Gallery during KALĀ 2025, featuring works by seven exceptional artists created through collaboration and meaningful engagement.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 11 February to 28 February. The Open Studios following the residency will be open to the public on 11 February. Residency Artists are Ahmed Javed – Pakistan, Ahmed Rasel – Bangladesh, Chandra Bhattacharjee – India, Hema Shironi - Sri Lanka, Pankaj Panwar – India, Rinoshan Susiman – Sri Lanka, and Seema Sharma Shah – Nepal.
