He was 83. He was also the uncle of Bollywood actresses Kajol and Rani Mukerji. His funeral took place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai yesterday, and celebs such as Kajol, Jaya Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor and others arrived to pay their last respects.
Now, Kajol has expressed her grief through an emotional note and mourned his demise. The death of her uncle Deb Mukherjee left Kajol reflecting about how grief never fully goes away. On Saturday, Kajol took to her Instagram stories and expressed that grief is the price one pays for loving deeply, and while it never fully disappears, one eventually learns to live with it.
“Grief is the price we pay for having loved deeply. It never goes away. we just learn to live with it," she wrote.
Kajol and her uncle shared a great bond. A well-known figure in the Samarth-Mukherjee family, Deb Mukherjee was often seen attending Durga Puja celebrations hosted by Kajol and Rani Mukerji. Kajol was among the first to visit her cousin Ayan Mukerji’s residence after finding out about the unfortunate news of Deb Mukherjee’s demise.
Paparazzi videos showed her rushing inside to be by Ayan’s side. Jaya Bachchan was also seen arriving at Ayan’s residence on Friday afternoon, just as Kajol reached the venue. The two actresses embraced for a long hug, with Jaya consoling Kajol during the difficult time.
They were later seen engaging in a heartfelt conversation before heading inside with other close family members and friends. Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee worked in several Bollywood films, including ‘Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool’, ‘Abhinetri’, ‘Do Aankhen’, ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’, among others. Meanwhile, Kajol was last seen in Do Patti.
