Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly made a decision on the future of midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa . According to a report by Citizen , Chiefs have decided to cut ties with Mthethwa. However, Amakhosi won’t let Mthethwa leave for free, and a source known to the publication claims the club will cash in on him.
The midfielder’s contract with Chiefs expires in June 2026, and it wouldn’t make business to release him for free. In addition, Mthethwa cost Chiefs millions of Rands, and the Soweto giants would want to also gain financially when he departs. He’s reportedly going to be placed on transfer list by Chiefs but whether this will happen in January or July remains to be seen.
Mthethwa has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Nasreddine Nabi as head coach of Chiefs . He is yet to feature for the Glamour Boys this season, and chances of him featuring before the January transfer window are minimal. KAIZER CHIEFS TO LET GO OF MTHETHWA? “A decision has been made to cut ties with Mthethwa, but because the club paid a lot of money to Stellenbosch when they signed him last year, they won’t release him for free,” said the source.
“They will put him on the transfer list and hopefully, they will get a buyer for him. “He’s a quality player. So, I’m sure he won’t be short of suitors, but I don’t think Chiefs will get back the amount they spent on him when they bought him from Stellies.
Remember, he was a Bafana player then and didn’t come cheap.” DID AMAKHOSI MAKE A MISTAKE BY SIGNING MTHETHWA? Let us know your thoughts by clicking on the comment tab below this article. Or by emailing info@thesouthafrican.
