Kaizer Chiefs fans should be keeping one eye open on the future of Mfundo Vilakazi. The outcome will be interesting.

Kaizer Chiefs prevailed past Mamelodi Sundowns to secure their first final appearance in six years. An 89th-minute Ashley Du Preez tap-in sent AmaKhosi fans into bedlam, an emotion they’ve rarely felt this season. Back at Orlando Stadium, the Buccaneers secured victory over Marumo Gallants to keep their quadruple hopes alive, setting up another iconic Soweto derby fixture.

While Mfundo Vilakazi didn’t feature in AmaKhosi’s semi-final Nedbank Cup bout, he remains a fan favourite, producing several highlight moments this season. The attacking midfielder has been selected for Bafana under-20’s African Cup of Nations, scheduled for April 27 to May 18, which would rule him out for the Nedbank Cup final on May 10.

Kaizer Chiefs , however, can choose to keep him in Soweto – an official decision is expected in the coming weeks. Sundowns starlet inbound? According to reports, the Glamour Boys are eyeing Sundowns youngster Thapelo Maseko. “It’s a move [Maseko] that Kaizer Chiefs are contemplating working on,” SoccerLaduma explained.

“The Chiefs scouts know Maseko very well and they know what he could bring to the team and that’s why they are enquiring about him. For now, it’s still early to say what will happen but what I can tell you is that they are seriously looking into that.” What should Kaizer Chiefs do about Vilakazi?
