Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is wants reinforcements this holiday season after the team’s recent struggles in the league. The Soweto giants salvaged a late 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy on Monday but have managed just one win in their last seven league matches, a far cry from the standards expected at the club. “We feel that we didn’t start well,” Nabi told SuperSport TV.

“The first 15, 20 minutes we were losing every ball, easy passes were lost, all the duels were won by the opponent, which was difficult for us.” Tactical adjustments and a late comeback Nabi admitted the team’s sluggish start forced him to make tactical changes early in the game. “We tried to adjust the team tactically after 25 minutes.

Then we came back really good and we conceded from a set-piece, where we felt like we were starting to come back into the game really well, with more control and commitment.” While the adjustments helped the team push forward in the second half, Nabi lamented their inability to capitalize on opportunities. “In the second half we tried to push forward.

Again, we’re missing opportunities to score. At the end, we tried everything to put more power, more risk forward, and fortunately, we got the point,” he said. However, Nabi emphasized that the team remains far from meeting expectations.

“But we feel that we’re very far from the level of Kaizer Chiefs. We need to work hard, we need to strengthen the team, but we’re gonna do everything we can for the future games.” Struggles up front demand solutions One of the key issues plaguing Kaizer Chiefs is their inefficiency in attack.

“It’s true, we feel that up top we have the same kind of players. Players who like to dribble, to play in short spaces, but we lack a little bit of power, players who can shoot. We need to get those kinds of players in the future,” Nabi explained.

Christmas wish: New signings As the January transfer window approaches, Nabi has made his desires crystal clear. Speaking in English to underline the urgency, he said, “I want players of the level of Kaizer Chiefs, honestly.” Nabi is looking for Christmas to bring much-needed reinforcements to bolster the squad.

“The perfect gift of Christmas time would be players that can strengthen the team. We feel that we’ll do everything as well to get better results.” With Nabi’s plea for new signings and his commitment to turning the team’s fortunes around, the spotlight is now on the club’s management to deliver.

Will the January transfer window bring the players needed to restore the Amakhosi to their winning ways? The fans will be eagerly watching.
