Former Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday (November 18). The development comes a day after he resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar welcomed Gahlot in the saffron party.
"Today, Delhi's former minister Kailash Gahlot has joined the BJP. This is a turning point in Delhi's politics as a senior minister of the Delhi government has joined the BJP. I am sure that you must have seen the work of PM Modi and BJP before taking the decision to join BJP.
I welcome you to the party." #WATCH | Delhi: Former Delhi Minister and AAP leader Kailash Gahlot joins BJP, in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other BJP leaders. pic.

The move came as a a major jolt to AAP ahead of state assembly polls scheduled in February next year.
Gahlot, a prominent Jat leader in the party, spoke out against the Delhi government spending "the majority of its time fighting with the Centre" and the failure to clean the Yamuna River. Rajendra Pal Gautam, a former minister in the AAP government, quit AAP and joined the Congress in September. Gahlot represented the Jat-dominated Najafgarh constituency in West Delhi since 2015..
