Juveniles detained after vehicle crashes onto Navy property in Barrio Logan

The vehicle ended up in a drainage ditch at Naval Base San Diego early Saturday morning

Two juveniles were detained after they led National City police on a short vehicle pursuit that ended with the fleeing car crashing through a chain-link fence on Navy property in Barrio Logan early Saturday. The pursuit began around 3:05 a.m.

when a National City police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle for a moving violation at the intersection of Main Street and Yama Street, Lt. Vincent Fernando said. The vehicle did not stop and led officers on a short chase, Fernando said.



The driver lost control on the Yama Street on-ramp to Interstate 5, which skirts the edge of Naval Base San Diego, police said. The vehicle crashed through the fence and ended up in a drainage ditch on the base. The two juveniles inside the vehicle were detained before being released to their parents, Fernando said.

No injuries were reported..
