
ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) — A juvenile is in custody in Roanoke Rapids after a house with people inside was hit by gunfire Thursday, police said.
Officers with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 300 block of Franklin Street Thursday. Once on scene, they found "an occupied residence had been struck by gunfire."Police learned the suspects had fled from the 300 block of Henry Street — just one block east of the house that had been hit — to an apartment on West 4th Street.
They found the location the suspects had gone to and searched it, leading to the discovery of a juvenile as well as one of the firearms that had been used in the incident.The Roanoke Rapids Police Department said the juvenile was taken into custody and will face a charge of shooting into an occupied dwelling.It is believed that the house that was hit by bullets "was an unintended victim," police said.
