Jurgen Klopp’s dream party guest is a convicted criminal who is banned from travelling to the United Kingdom. Klopp captured the hearts and minds of English football fans during his nine-year stint as Liverpool boss. During his time as the Reds boss, Klopp won almost every trophy available to him including the Champions League, Club World Cup and Liverpool ’s first-ever Premier League title.

The German certainly left his mark on the Anfield outfit, but his dream dinner party guest, tennis legend Boris Becker, wouldn’t have been able to attend if it was in the UK. Becker was found guilty of hiding hundreds of thousands of pounds of assets and jailed for two-and-a-half years in 2022 after being declared bankrupt. The six-time Grand Slam winner was later deported from the UK later that year and is banned from returning until June 2025.

He has since been discharged from bankruptcy in Britain after agreeing on a settlement with some of his creditors. But it hasn’t stopped Klopp from wanting to share a charcuterie board and some wine with him, having once replied when asked who his dream dinner party guest is: “Ocean's 11 Boris Becker and James Bond. That would be a great party.

” Before adding: “Wow ! We should do that. @borisbeckerofficial wouldn’t that be a great party?” The tennis star didn’t turn down the invitation, posting on an Instagram story, saying: “Any time [perfect hand emoji].” Klopp has never shied away from his admiration of the three-time Wimbledon champion, once dubbing him his “idol”.

The football tactician explained: “Boris is the great idol of my childhood and youth. We first met at Wimbledon . “My wife Ulla organised it at the time.

She knew that I really wanted to get to know him. “I followed his entire career and was a huge fan. We then spent a sensational evening at Wimbledon - we were on the same wavelength and had a lot of fun.

” Alongside his three Wimbledon titles, Becker finished his career with two Australian Open triumphs and one US Open victory. He also took gold at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, topping the podium alongside doubles partner Michael Stich..
