Wanka netted the game’s tying goal on the power-play at 7 minutes, 22 seconds and the game’s winning goal at 12:31 of the middle frame in Willmar’s 2-1 win in the NA3HL West Division matchup at Willmar Civic Center Arena. The WarHawks are 20-16-1-0 and Minnesota is 14-22-2-2.
Wanka, a 5-foot-8, 150-pound forward from Rogers, has a team-high 20 goals and 18 assists in 30 games, good for a team-best 38 points. Zane Irion picked up an assist on Wanka’s first tally. The forward from Rio Rancho, Mexico ranks fourth in points among Willmar skaters.
He has 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points. Kai Girard made 29 saves on 30 shots faced for the WarHawks. He is from Chaska.
