Junior hockey: Alexandria Blizzard bury Willmar WarHawks in home opener

Eli Fletcher nets 3 goals in Alexandria’s 8-3 victory

WILLMAR — Eli Fletcher’s natural hat trick highlighted Alexandria’s rout of the WarHawks in Willmar’s home opener on Friday. Fletcher’s contributions resulted in an 8-3 win for the Blizzard in the NA3HL West Division game at the Willmar Civic Center Arena. Alexandria is 2-2-0-0 in the division and Willmar is 2-3-0-0.

Mason Buchanan led the Blizzard with four points, collecting a pair of goals and two assists. He had a goal and two assists in Alexandria’s five-goal second period, giving the Blizzard a 5-2 advantage. Willmar got goals from Scott Woltman, Aidan Callaghan and Hayden Stensrud.



Woltman, a forward from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, scored the game’s first goal. Callaghan and Stensrud’s tallies came as their firsts of the season. Callaghan is a forward from Chicago, Illinois, and Stensrud is a defenseman from St.

Peter. The WarHawks and Blizzard play again at 7:10 p.m.
